When Instant Pools opens your pool in Innisfil, we handle every step from start to finish — so you can go from a closed winter pool to crystal clear swimming water as fast as possible. Here's exactly what we do:

Before we touch your pool we start with the cover. We remove all debris — leaves, twigs, and anything that built up over the Innisfil winter — and give the cover a thorough clean before taking it off. This prevents any of that debris from ending up in your pool water and creating extra work. Your cover is cleaned, folded, and stored neatly in your cover bag ready for next season.

Using our professional cover tool we carefully release all metal straps from your deck anchors, working our way around the entire pool. We then pull the cover back and fold it as it comes off — keeping everything neat and preventing the cover from dragging debris into the water. A well folded cover lasts longer and is easier to store — and we do this right every time.
 

Over the winter your pool walls, return jets, and skimmer were all plugged to prevent freeze damage during those cold Innisfil winters. We remove every plug carefully and set them aside — they'll go back in when we close your pool in the fall. Missing even one plug is a common DIY mistake that causes circulation problems all season long.
 

Now we go to your equipment — pump, filter, and any other pool equipment — and replace all the drain plugs that were removed during winterizing. This step must be done before starting the pump. Running a pump without drain plugs in place will cause immediate water loss and potential equipment damage — we never skip this step.
 

Before starting your pump we fill it with water to prime it. A dry pump cannot pull water on its own and will burn out quickly if started without priming. We fill the pump basket completely, replace the lid tightly, and make sure everything is sealed before we fire it up.
 

With everything primed and plugged we start your pump and watch carefully for the first few minutes. We check all connections, fittings, and equipment for any leaks that may have developed over the winter. Catching a small leak at opening time saves you a much bigger headache mid-season. We won't leave until we're satisfied everything is running properly.
 

After a long Innisfil winter your pool water will likely be green or cloudy — that's completely normal. We set your filter to the waste setting and vacuum the pool thoroughly, pumping the dirty water out directly without clogging your filter. This is the fastest and most effective way to clear up post-winter water. We top up your water level as needed throughout this process.
 

Once the pool is vacuumed and the water level is correct we shock the pool with liquid chlorine to kill any remaining bacteria, algae, and contaminants from the winter. We do this in the evening so the chlorine can work overnight with the pump running — giving you the best possible result by morning.
 

The last step is a final vacuum and clean followed by a full chemical balance of your pool water. We test and adjust:
pH — 7.2 to 7.6
Alkalinity — 80 to 120 ppm
Chlorine — 1 to 3 ppm
Stabilizer (CYA) — 30 to 50 ppm
Balanced water means safe swimming, less chemical use all season, and a longer life for your liner and equipment. We don't leave until your water is swim-ready.
